As we grow older, our skin ages. Wrinkles start to form.
What causes wrinkles?
Do you open your mouth to eat food? Do you open your mouth to talk? Do you laugh at jokes? Do you worry about anything? These can all give you wrinkles. I once knew a woman who in order to avoid wrinkles, refused to laugh. She killed off her sense of humor. What a terrible way to go through life. How sad! But there are all sorts of crazy things people will do to avoid and treat wrinkles that are going to the extreme.
In addition to laughing, eating, and worrying... yawning, squinting, crying and frowning can also cause wrinkles to appear.
So even if you put your face in a cast so it did not move, you still can develop wrinkles. Because as we age, the elasticity of our skin changes (if nothing is done). The protein structures of the skin lose power and are not able to support the skin. Gravity which is constantly pulling us down to the earth, is also pulling down the skin. Then you go into the sun and prolonged sun exposure can damage your skin. It needs to repair itself, but having to do this over, and over, and over again is not great for your skin. Add to that the chemical laden foods that we eat. Filled with all sorts of chemically produced artificial this and artificial that. The pollutants in the air, smoking or being around smoke, excessive amounts of alcohol... and... well, I think you get the picture.
So What Can Be Done, You May Ask.
What A “Cut Up”
In the 1970's and 1980's according to “Western” skin care experts, the ONLY thing people who wished to look younger could do was to have cosmetic surgery.
I'm sure if you look in history books you will see the terms “Surgical Face Lift” and “Surgical Eye Lift”. Yes this was surgery.
A Frankenstein Sits With Hannibal Lecter
If you ever saw the movie “Silence of the Lambs” Hannibal Lecter gave someone a face lift! He went a bit too far though when he completely cut off the face of his victim. The way a surgical face lift works, is a surgeon cuts away skin in a place where the stitches are unlikely to be seen. The surgeon then pulls the skin tight over the face “Lifting the skin” and then sews it back together. Kind of like Frankenstein except you generally do not see the stitches... unless you really look closely.
My, my, my... what some people will go through to look younger!
A problem with the surgical face lift is that it also would not last. So every few years due to the natural aging of the skin, the victim would go back again to the surgeon for another face lift. So surgery is only temporary fix.
Speaking of Temporary Fixes
Have you ever heard of Botox? Have you ever heard of chemical peels, dermabrasion, and collagen injections? None of these are a permanent fix. Do you know what Botox is.
Botox
Botulinum toxin that works by preventing nerve impulses from reaching the muscle, causing the muscle to relax. What was the second word??? Oh yeah TOXIN! Don't believe it's harmless? OK. How about this...
Infant botulism is caused by consuming the spores of the botulinum ... Clostridium botulinum is the name of a group of bacteria commonly found in soil. Who said that? The US Government Center for Disease Control. http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dbmd/diseaseinfo/botulism_g.htm
Botulinum Toxin as a Biological Weapon
What??? Yes this was from an article in JAMA (The Journal of the American Medical Association) The article says "Botulinum toxin is the most poisonous substance known. A single gram of crystalline toxin, evenly dispersed and inhaled, would kill more than 1 million people,.." So let's go inject that into our faces!
Chemical Peel
From the American Society of Plastic Surgeons http://www.plasticsurgery.org/public_education/procedures/ChemicalPeel.cfm
“Phenol, trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and alphahydroxy acids (AHAs) are used for this purpose. The precise formula used may be adjusted to meet each patient's needs. Although chemical peel may be performed in conjunction with a facelift, it is not a substitute for such surgery, nor will it prevent or slow the aging process. (Underline each word)”
The way it works:
A chemical solution that is applied to the skin. The chemical solution causes a layer of skin to separate and peel off (I guess it burns it). Then new skin grows to replace the acid burned skin that has been peeled off. This new skin is supposed to be smoother, less wrinkled, and more even in color than the old skin.
So you put Acid on your face. Don't people get arrested for throwing acid in other people's faces?
How About Dermabrasion
Power Tools! Let's just go out to the garage and grab that power sander. In the words of Austin Powers “Yeah Baby!” What? You think I jest?
From http://www.spafinder.com/spas/medical/glossary.jsp Removal of the top layer of the skin with a power-driven sander or dermatome (which works like a plane) to remove pitting cause by acne and wrinkles and spots caused by aging and sun.
Collagen Injections
Types of Collagen Fillers
From http://www.docshop.com/education/cosmetic/skin/injectables/collagen/
There are four basic types of collagen fillers:
- Bovine collagen injection: extracted from cow skin, purified and sterilized, and then processed into liquid forms of different thicknesses.
- Autologen: taken from your own skin during a previous operation, processed into liquid form.
- Isolagen: collagen cloned from a small sample of your own skin and processed into a liquid.
- Dermalogen: collagen from a deceased human tissue donor which has been purified, sterilized, and processed into a liquid
And Just When You Were About To Give Up Hope... Along comes
What Was Old Is New Again
Centuries ago and up through modern times, in Asia the women (primarily) used Fresh Water Pearls ground up into powder to treat their skin. It's written up in Chinese history and in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
100% Fresh Water pearl powder (like JAJA Pearl powder) has been famous for making the skin more elastic, getting rid of wrinkles, age spots, sun spots, liver spots, and more. It is used either externally. In fact it has been reported by beauty experts in the know, that the ancient Chinese Emperor's Concubines used a combination of Fresh Water pearl powder (100% pearls no shells, no mother of pearl) in equal parts with milk as a facial masque. This was used to preserve the luminous, and elasticity, and beauty of their skin.
Ancient stories also have it that Cleopatra used Fresh Water pearls to make her skin more luxurious and beautiful.
Today, you have your choice. You can either go to the torture racks, get your face cut up and skin pulled back. Or you can get a potential chemical weapon injected into your face and look totally ridiculous when your face is frozen and you can show no expression - But hey... you will have no wrinkles for the time being. You look like a freak, but no wrinkles. Or you can pay a professional to pour acid on your face. Or you can get by products from dead people, or cows, or an operation to get some of your own skin.
All of these “Modern” treatments are very expensive, possibly painful, and are short term solutions.
Or you can use...
What Once Was Old and Is New Again
Time tested and proven over the centuries. 100% pure fresh water crushed pearls. Sure you need to use pearl powder regularly, but it is not painful to use (unless you are allergic to shell fish). It is not nearly as expensive as the “Modern” surgical treatments, and it is not risky either.
So Yes indeed, You can make what is old new again, and safely regain your elastic youthful looking skin.
