Honey Stevia Leaf powder is the leaf that has been dried and then crushed into green powder. It is the precursor to JAJA Stevioside. JAJA Stevioside is the white powder extract from the Honey Stevia Leaf.
Honey Stevia Leaf powder is grown under organic conditions. It is non GMO (Genetically modified) as well. We do not believe in GMO and do not believe that GMO products are safe. JAJA Stevioside is also extracted under organic conditions. Neither JAJA Stevioside or Honey Stevia LEaf are certified organic. We simply did not see the need to spend a lot of money for a certification for Organic, or Kosher, or Hallal, or any other certification.
Stevia rebaudiana is plant belonging to the chrysanthemum family. It is native to South America. The leaves have been used for centuries as sweeteners by indigenous peoples, who added it to bitter medicines and teas. Today it is commercially cultivated in many countries around the world including China, Korea, Malaysia, and many countries in South America. In World War 2 the British were considering commercially cultivating Stevioside as there was a sugar shortage at the time.
Stevioside is the extract of the stevia leaf. The leaves contain glycosides, which taste sweet, but do not provide calories. Steviosides and rebaudiosides are the major constituents of glucosides with differing sugar molecules attached, as found in the leaves of the Stevia plant. The major commercially used glycoside is called Stevioside, estimated to be 200 to 300 times sweeter than sugar. There are many different grades of Stevioside, as well as methods of extraction. The taste of stevioside is dependent on many factors, including the, method of extraction, the percentage of steviosides and more. If you have tried other stevioside, when you taste Emperors Herbologist you will know exactly what we mean.
No. The US FDA will not let us make any claims about sweetness, and/or flavor enhancement regarding stevioside. So to comply fully we do not make such claims. We feel it is far more important to get you Stevioside for your own personal use than it is to break the FDA rules and regulations regarding Stevioside.
The reasons for that can be many, but they generally boil down to one thing.
The company has mixed something into their stevioside.
Usually these companies are using either a low grade of stevioside and mixing it with maltodextrin to hide licorice, and/or grassy taste.
Or the companies are outright stealing your money by mixing stevioside with silicates, starches, and other low cost bulking ingredients.
What happens is that they sell you Stevioside that is not pure stevioside, as extracted from the stevia leaf, but still charge you as if you were buying pure stevioside. They do this to greatly enhance their profits. As the saying goes "You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all the time." Or as a clothing company commercial says "An educated consumer is our best customer."
We encourage you to learn all you can about stevia, and stevioside. It is in your own best interest to do so. Check out our page Stevia Reading for more articles.
First of all, we do not sell Emperors Herbologist in the USA as a sweetener due to FDA regulations. We only sell it as a dietary supplement. Emperors Herbologist is naturally extracted from the Stevia leaf using the all natural Aqueous extraction method, it is then dried using the Air Dry method. There are no chemicals involved (unless you consider water as a chemical). This means that Emperors Herbologist Stevioside is not "Nature identical", and it definitely is not artificial. Stevia and Stevioside have been used safely for centuries (read stevia & stevioside history ), unlike the artificial sweeteners approved for use by the FDA.
Also, and this is a very important consideration business wise, stevioside is a natural extract and like sugar can not be patented unlike the laboratory produced chemical artificial sweeteners are.
Glad you asked. We use only natural extraction method. Nothing is added to our JAJA Stevioside giving you pure stevioside, as extracted from the stevia leaf.
The skill level of the workers is very high, the quality of the plant used is very high, and every batch is tested to insure it meets our taste standards, and stevioside content (95 % minimum). The balance is made up of moisture, and small traces of naturally occurring components that make up the Stevia leaf. If the Stevioside does not meet our high standards, it is sold off to other companies selling stevioside.
You will notice that Emperors Herbologist JAJA Stevioside does not have a grassy taste, or licorice after taste. It does not change the color of water when mixed into it. These are hallmarks of our quality conscious process
No. Emperors Herbologist JAJA Stevioside is 100% extract of the stevia leaf. We add absolutely nothing to our stevioside. This insures you get a great tasting stevioside, and you are getting what you are paying for.
Both JAJA Stevioside and Honey Stevia Leaf are 100% natural. They are both free of gluten. There is absolutely nothing added to either JAJA Stevioside or Honey Stevia Leaf making them of special interest to people with Candida and Celiac.
We do not mix "cut" our JAJA Stevioside with maltodextrin, or anything else. Companies mix "cut" stevioside with maltodextrin for many reasons. Some of them are:
- Their stevioside has a grassy or heavy licorice after taste, that maltodextrin can hide.
- Some companies use a very low grade stevioside and try to cover it's poor quality taste with maltodextrin.
- Maltodextrin is less expensive than stevioside. It also adds bulk to stevioside it is mixed into giving a much higher profit margin at the expense of adding carbohydrates (though at a very limited amount).
Be aware, that stevioside "cut" with maltodextrin does not dissolve very well in liquids. Poor quality Stevioside has a licorice taste, a bitter after taste, and leaves sediment at the bottom of liquids it is mixed into, it also discolors the liquid it is mixed into.

While we can not vouch for every stevioside on the market produced in China, Emperor's Herbologist brand JAJA Stevioside is completely safe. Unlike most of the other stevioside from China and other countries, JAJA Stevioside is tested to assure it is extremely low in pathogens, bacteria, and heavy metals. In order to sell to Japan (where our stevioside has been sold for over 15 years), it is crucial to have extemely low levels of bacteria, heavy metals, and other harmful items.

No we do not. It is very easy to mix Emperors Herbologist JAJA Stevioside into water. If you buy 1 ounce of liquefied stevioside, you are paying a lot for water, and it may also contain alcohol. Our 15 gram bottle is over 1/2 ounce of Stevioside. It contains over 1100 servings. If you want the recipe to make stevia liquid concentrate here it is

We are not in the business of providing medical advise. You should talk with your health professional. Ask them if stevioside is safe for diabetics, and if it will raise blood sugar levels. If they say it is not safe, or raises blood sugar levels ask them for current studies supporting their answer.
We have found that some health professionals say Stevioside has a particular concern for diabetics because it contains maltodextrin. Emperors Herbologist JAJA Stevioside does not contain any maltodextrin what so ever. You may want to read what the

Due to US FDA regulations we are not able to tell you how to use stevioside in recipes. We are only allowed to sell stevioside as a dietary supplement. And can not even provide a sugar replacement table.
In fact if you live in the USA, you will not find any stevia or stevioside in tea, basked goods, candy, diet sodas, sold as a table top sweetener, or any other non sugar sweetened product. You will however, find stevia and stevioside in a wide variety of dietary supplements. A good example of this is C-Splash™
Emperors Herbologist JAJA Stevioside has some very interesting properties. These include:
- JAJA Stevioside has a virtually unlimited shelf life.
- JAJA Stevioside does not break down in heat, cold, acidic or alkaline conditions.
This means that if, for example, you were preparing a dietary supplement that should be taken hot and mixed some stevioside, the stevioside would not break down (it would of course dissolve, but it's basic properties would remain). The same goes if you were to mix Stevioside into a cold, or acidic supplement.

We were the first company to sell stevioside in a shake top bottle. When we first started selling stevioside to consumers, we packed it like everyone else did at the time........packed in small bags (like sugar in restaurants is packed). Our customers told us that they found that they were wasting to much stevioside, as it only takes a very small amount for their use. To help them save money by not wasting stevioside we decided to pack it into 15 gram shake top bottles. Since that time we have noticed many other companies have copied our idea.
